In an initial assessment, you will be asked questions about your medical history, family history, psychiatric history, personal and family life, and general lifestyle. The initial assessment, completed by our behavioral health team, allows the psychiatric provider to understand your current concerns, your past problems, and what treatments have or have not worked for you previously. It will help to identify if psychiatry is indeed the correct treatment route for you.

A psychiatric evaluation includes a more focused assessment of your emotional, behavioral, and physical needs. This may include different screening tools in order to diagnose mental, emotional and behavioral disorders or conditions.

If medication would be a part of your treatment plan, we will prescribe medications as the provider sees appropriate. We will do appropriate follow up appointments to monitor your response to the medication. Our providers may order labs and appropriate tests, prior to or during your treatment course.
